PFSVC vs PSEB: What's the Difference?

Two institutions. Completely different purposes. Here's exactly what each one does — and why most serious Pakistani freelancers need both.

If you've spent any time in Pakistan's freelancer community, you've heard both names. PSEB. PFSVC. People sometimes use them interchangeably — they shouldn't. They're not competing institutions. They're not even in the same category.

What PSEB Does

PSEB (Pakistan Software Export Board) is a government body under the Ministry of IT. Its job is to grow Pakistan's IT export industry. For individual freelancers, PSEB registration gives you:

PSEB is your legal and financial standing. It's about your tax status within the Pakistani government's IT framework.

What PFSVC Does

PFSVC is an independent institution. Its job is to verify your skills to international hiring standards. PFSVC verification gives you:

PFSVC is your professional credential. It's about building trust with the people who are about to wire you money.

The Key Difference

PSEB proves you're a registered IT exporter in Pakistan. An international client has no meaningful way to verify your skills through PSEB. PFSVC proves you can actually do the work — and any client can verify it in seconds. One is compliance. The other is credibility.

Do You Need Both?

If you're serious about building a long-term freelance career with international clients, yes. PSEB handles your tax standing with the Pakistani government. PFSVC handles your professional credibility with the international market. They're complementary. Getting PFSVC-verified doesn't affect your PSEB status in any way.
